Tofino Tsunami Siren Test — January 5th

Share

PlaceSpeak is proud to partner with the District of Tofino on our newest topic.

Tomorrow, January 5th, 2012, the District of Tofino Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) will test the tsunami siren emergency notification system between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The EOC is interested in determining what is the range of the siren warning system.

After the test, residents of Tofino and the surrounding areas—including Mackenzie, Chesterman Beachs, Jensens Bay, Cox Bay, Esowista/Ty-histanis and  nearby islands—are invited to login to PlaceSpeak and answer a short survey, letting us know if you heard the siren.

If you already have a PlaceSpeak account, you can login or go directly to the topic page. If this is your fist time connecting to a topic on PlaceSpeak, you will need to set up an account.

Tofino currently has 2 tsunami sirens installed; North Chesterman Beach, and Cox Bay. Here is a picture of the one at North Chesterman Beach:
