PlaceSpeak to host Vancouver’s ‘Pub Summit’ – Thursday night, Billy Bishop Legion
Innovators, investors, bloggers, founders of many of the world’s leading tech companies and everyone in between will raise a pint at 100 Pub Summits around the world on Thursday, October 24th, 2013, as a prelude to next week’s Web Summit in Dublin.
Organizers in Dublin have chosen us at PlaceSpeak to host Vancouver’s event, which will take place the Billy Bishop Legion (Branch 176 – 1407 Laburnum Street near Cornwall in Kits Point) from 6:00 PM onwards. If you are in Vancouver, we’d love to meet you. Come out this Thursday and share a drink with some of the tech community in our city.
This event will be a great chance to meet startups, investors, media and advisors and make these vital connections in our hometown. Tickets are complimentary. You can learn more and RSVP on our Facebook event page. The hashtag on the night will be #WebSummit.
The first Pub Summit took place in a small Dublin pub two years ago, when the organizers asked a small group of people in the tech community to join them for a round or two and to invite three friends each. The event created ‘a very eclectic but curated group’ that attracted the oddest of characters but worked so well that the event now spans five continents and 40 countries. Some of the other cities holding Pub Summits on Thursday include: Amsterdam, Berlin, Bangalore, Cario, and Tel Aviv, amongst many others.
PlaceSpeak’s founder, Colleen Hardwick, was asked to host Vancouver’s event after the Web Summit selected the innovative new public engagement platform to appear in their Alpha Program exhibition as a featured ‘world class startup’. Colleen will travel to Dublin to attend the Web Summit and will, at their request, appear on the “Peoples Stage” at the Web Summit to tell PlaceSpeak’s story. Please contact Ms. Hardwick for more information on the Pub Summit and the Web Summit at [email protected] or 778-999-7677.
