A pioneer in open and authenticated citizen engagement, Vancouver-based civic technology startup PlaceSpeak has joined the Alacrity Foundation’s Investor Readiness program.

The Investor Readiness program is focused on driving significant venture capital investment into Western Canadian information and communication technology (ICT), clean technology and life science companies. The program links companies such as PlaceSpeak with its network of investors, and supports them directly in securing strategic capital.

“PlaceSpeak is a great fit for Alacrity’s Investor Readiness program,” says Owen Matthews, Chairman of the Alacrity Foundation. “They have a strong team and a clear value proposition in a space we know well. We are looking forward to working together to find the funding to allow PlaceSpeak to grow.”

The Alacrity Foundation is also supported by Western Economic Diversification Canada to facilitate United States investments for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Western Canada.

Since its inception, PlaceSpeak has consistently raised the bar when it comes to citizen engagement. Its innovative location-based technology is making data and feedback from online consultations legitimate, defensible, and actionable. Key partnerships with open data companies such as Socrata are also helping to accelerate growth in the civic technology space.

“PlaceSpeak is honoured to have been accepted to participate in the Alacrity Foundation’s Investor Readiness program. The company has advanced to the stage where it is ready to accelerate commercialization,” says Colleen Hardwick, CEO and Founder of PlaceSpeak. “We are hopeful that Alacrity’s strong network of investment colleagues and peers will be able to showcase PlaceSpeak to potential investors internationally.”
