Public voting has closed to pick the top 3 startups from Seattle, Portland, and Vancouver to represent their city in the Cascadia Edition of the Disruptathon startup contest happening at the ModevTablet event on August 15-16 in Seattle. Disruption is a friendly competition and pitch-off between the best and brightest mobile startup companies from Seattle, Portland and Vancouver.
After thousands of votes cast by the public, we have learned that PlaceSpeak was voted as the first place finalist with 333 votes! Thank-you to all our readers who voted for us and promoted this contest to your friends and followers. It really means a lot to our team!
This means a we will be one of nine Cascadia finalists giving a live three-minute pitch on Friday August 16th between 4-5pm in Seattle. We will be presenting on the conference main stage to a panel of judges who will rate them using the Disruptathon mobile app. The finalist with the highest aggregate rating will be crowned the most disruptive mobile startup in the Cascadia region and the city with the highest aggregate score among the teams will be crowned the Disruptathon Cascadia Edition champions and take home the highly coveted Cup trophy!
The highest rated startup will also be recognized as the event champion and receive the following:
- A $10,000 sponsorship to ModevEast Dec 12-14 in Washington, DC.
- Round-trip airfare to San Francisco for MobiCon Oct 16-18
- A seat on CTIAs mobile innovation council
- A 30 minute investment meeting with Madrona Ventures

Representing Portland: GlobeSherpa, ShopIgniter, and Exprima Media.
Representing Seattle: Haiku Deck, BYNDL, and Apptentive.
