PlaceSpeak advisor David Vogt is excited about how PlaceSpeak enables residents to amplify their sense of place—and their sense of voice—on their own terms. Dr. Vogt is currently Director of Digital Learning Projects at the University of British Columbia (UBC).

PlaceSpeak is entering a field that is nascent and very exciting in the sense that the community has never really been involved on the internet or on collective conversation for their own good in that domain. We’re moving to a place where citizens can now amplify their sense of place—and their sense of voice—on their own terms rather than on terms put forward by a plebiscite or voting mechanism They can get involved at a pace and at a depth that’s according to their own wishes. This is really how democracy should be enacted.
